Workplace Action

How can taking action in the workplace be impactful?

The science of changemaking tells us that the most effective impact comes from focusing on things within our control, where we have the power to make a difference. This can include making positive changes in our workplace.

By calling for changes in our workplace, we can encourage our employer to adopt compassionate and sustainable practices. Simple commitments, such as providing dairy-free milk in communal fridges, or implementing a compassionate purchasing policy that prioritizes vegan food, can make a significant difference.

By taking actions like these, companies can meet their sustainability goals while also helping animals.

Making changes in the workplace may take time, but remember, you’re supported by a community of dedicated animal advocates. Start with small wins and work your way up to bigger commitments.

Workplace action can be a highly effective form of animal advocacy. Learn how you can get started below.

Take action in your workplace

If you’re keen to achieve positive changes for animals and the planet within your workplace, here’s how you can get started:

  1. Contact us at outreach@animaloutlook.org to let us know about the wonderful work you’re doing and we can provide helpful guidance in advocating for change with your employer

  2. If you work for a private company, consider joining Vegan Leaders in Corporate Management, a wide network of employees who are taking action for animals in their workplace and can provide support and resources

  3. Take the behavioral science training by joining the Animal Outlook Network. You’ll gain impactful tools that you can incorporate into conversations with your employer to drive positive changes

  4. Start small. Can you have a conversation with a colleague over lunch about the delicious vegan food you brought in today? Planting the seed with one person might encourage more support when it comes to calling for action from your employer.

  5. When you feel that the colleague you are speaking with is receptive to your message, share TryVeg with anyone new to vegan recipes, and invite them to take the VegPledge to try eating vegan for a week or more.
